Wedding Season Hair Care: Getting Your Hair Ready for December
The monsoon is over, and with it the frizz and hair fall that the humidity brings. That makes November the right time to get your hair ready for December's weddings, parties and Christmas celebrations, whether you are the bride, part of the bridal party or a guest.
Four to six weeks before
- Get a trim. Removing split ends now means your hair looks healthier and holds a style better on the day.
- Plan colour early. If you want highlights or a new shade, do it at least two to three weeks before the event. It gives the colour time to settle and leaves room for a touch-up.
- Start regular conditioning. A good conditioner after every wash, and an oil massage once a week, help undo the monsoon damage.
Two weeks before
- Book a hair spa. A hair spa deep-conditions and nourishes, leaving hair soft, shiny and easier to style. Two weeks ahead is ideal; the day before is too late.
- Decide on your hairstyle. Updos, braids and soft curls all suit different outfits. Bring a photo of your outfit to your appointment.
The day before and on the day
- Wash your hair the evening before, unless your stylist has suggested otherwise. Very freshly washed hair can be too slippery to hold an updo.
- Avoid heavy oils on the day, as they make hair flat and hard to style.
- Keep a few pins and a small hairspray in your bag for touch-ups.
